Since you’ve been gone… some interesting things occurred.
Shortly after you left, they became obsessed with your return, and became impatient. This turn of events allowed them to hone their craft: the art of song. Using their craft, they stumbled upon a major influx in income. Which led to them meeting themselves in a dream with a message about the future. They ended up finding true happiness in giving up on their quest and spending more time with their loved ones. Now they are starting to believe they know how everyone should live.

Shortly after you left, They got curious about a secret they weren’t supposed to know about. An unfortunate side effect of this was quicker aging. Which led to them meeting a pet mimic that eats copper pieces. Disaster struck when their father caught wind of what they were doing. Now... their family has disowned them, their friends no longer accept them, and the party is the only people they can turn to.

A funny thing happened to the NPC after the party left: time stopped progressing at a normal pace, but only for them. Reacting to that, they decided they need to make a serious change to their life. So they sought a mage who could make them grow a second head (solely for administrative purposes). Which had the unexpected consequence of being compelled to eat any sweet dish within eyesight. Things escalated quickly when out of nowhere a deity fell head over heels for them, showering them with attention and gifts. For unspecified reasons, they have lost the ability to understand everyday language, but any code or cypher makes perfect sense. Expected or not, this all resulted in repeating the same day over and over again, but this time the party has arrived… and is now part of the time loop.
